Automatic Walls |operable walls|folding walls|automatic walls|folding doors Skyfold Autolift Automatic Walls system has been tested by the NationalResearch Council of Canada in compliance with ASTM E90 for sound transmission. The tests yielded an STC rating of 51 while individual panels obtained an STC of 54 as tested at Concordia University’s Center for Building Studies. Better yet, the system was shown to retain its sound-separation capabilities over the life of the wall! There are also a variety of panel finishes available that offer desired NRC properties. A test specimen was designated by the manufacturer as Skyfold Autolift Wall System. A description of the automatic walls specimen was as follows: The automatic wall tested consisted of five panels on each side of a 146 mm (5.75 in.) airspace. The space between the vertical planes of the contained two pantograph type lifting mechanisms and a T-bar. The automatic wall folded and raised vertically to the top of the test opening. The lifting action was provided by use of an electric motor by cable to the T-bar. Average weight of the panels was 32.6 kg (71.9 lbs ) each. Nominal dimensions of the panels were 4.24 m (166.75 in.) long by 559 mm (22 in.) high by 57 mm (2.25 in.) thick. Each panel consisted of a 0.8 mm (0.032 in.) galvanized steel face sheet, a 19 mm (0.75 in.) honeycomb paper fill core, and a 0.5 mm (0.018 in.) galvanized steel backer sheet. There's always a wire rope cable for every set of lifting mechanisms on Skyfold's. automatic walls. This cable shall be of 6 x 31 construction aircraft cable and shall be made of galvanized steel or stainless steel. The diameter of the cables shall be sized so that they shall be able to hold the entire weight of the wall, with the appropriate safety factor. The automatic walls are warranted to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of two years or five thousand cycles and the parts only will be free from defect for a period of ten years or five thousand cycles, whichever occurs first from date of shipment. |
